We'd heard the long-lead media "drive" for the 2009 Corvette ZR1 was yesterday and it looks like the first in-car driving footage is now out on the web, less than 24 hours later. We obviously weren't there, primarily since we'd heard it was all magazines there. Frankly, we just don't need as much time as the glossies to put out a good story. We don't have character blocks to set in the printing press, no ink to squirt out and no parchment to unroll. So we guess it makes sense that we wouldn't need an invite to an event this far out. Of course, we also expected the invited media reps from the big n' bad buff books would, you know, drive the cars themselves.
Registration for the 2008 Z06Fest at the NCM in Bowling Green, KY is now live. The event runs from September 11-13, 2008.
The Z06Fest is the annual high performance Corvette event at the NCM. Co-sponsored by Z06Vette.com, it is THE event for the high performance enthusiast.

DETROIT - The official Corvette ZR1 numbers are in and they're good. Very good: * $103,300 MSRP (including $850 destination charge)
* EPA-estimated fuel economy of 14 city and 20 highway
* 0-60 mph in 3.4 seconds
* 0-100 mph in 7.0 seconds
* Quarter-mile elapsed time of 11.3 seconds at 131 mph
The Corvette ZR1 also has a top speed of 205 mph (330 km/h), making it the fastest Corvette ever produced and ranking it among the global super cars of commensurate performance. None of those other super cars, however, equals the ZR1's performance-per-dollar ratio.
"The ZR1 is an incredible machine by any measure," said Ed Peper, North American Vice President, Chevrolet. "There's simply no other vehicle in the world that does a better job of balancing performance, price and fuel economy."
Performance perspective
The Corvette ZR1's 0-60 performance is 0.3-second quicker than the already-quick Corvette Z06 and the 0-100-mph performance is nearly a full second quicker - 7 seconds vs. the Z06's 7.9 seconds. It is performance that is equal to or better than many super cars costing substantially more.

For the second year, we will have Split Tree BBQ of Bowling Green, KY provide us with a scrumptious BBQ meal on Thursday night, September 11, 2008 at 6:30 pm on the lawn in front of the Baymont Hotel. The Baymont Hotel is the host hotel for the Z06Fest.
For the fourth year in a row, I will be leading a group up to the Maker's Mark Distillery on Thursday morning, September 11, 2008. This is a free road tour that is not your average scenic road tour. For those that do not know, WART stands for Wild A$$ Road Tour, I like to call our little jaunt throught the country side a "blurry" road tour.
This road tour will leave from in front of the Baymont Hotel, the Z06Fest host hotel. We will leave at 8:00 am for the 1:45 minute drive to the distillery. I have the distillery expecting our arrival around 10:45 am EST (the distillery is in the Eastern time zone, BG is in the Central time zone)
Along the way we will get to experiences some great back country roads, which will be traversed in a spirited manner. This is not for the faint of heart.
Once at the distillery, tours of the facility will be available, they also have a wonderful gift shop, and within the next two weeks they will be opening a restaraunt on site that we might want to have lunch at. I will look into that as we get closer to the event.
One thing to know, this event will NOT appear on the Offical NCM Z06Fest agenda. This event is sponsored and run by Z06Vette.com and the NCM refuses to put it on the official event agenda due to liability reasons.
Please understand that there will be a... [Read More]
